CFB 27 is now available to MVP+ Members and will be available to everyone by July 9. This will be the third iteration of the series since EA Sports brought it back in 2024, following a long hiatus due to legal issues.
Florida fans will have a lot to work with in this year’s game, but the ratings for the Gators across the board are lower than what they were in CFB 26. If Florida is going to have a successful season in real life, these are four key players who are going to need to outperform the rating they were given in the game.
Four Florida players who need to outperform their CFB 27 rating
Tramell Jones and/or Aaron Philo (75 overall rating)
A lot of focus has been put on Florida’s QB battle, and that focus is only going to heat up once the Gators return to the practice field when fall camp begins. EA Sports seems hesitant to pick a winner in the battle, and both QBs are coming in at 75 overall.
Ultimately, one of these two will need to play closer to an 80-rated QB for Florida to have any hope, as Buster Faulkner’s offense can only shield them so much if they play like a 75-rated QB.
Emeka Ugorji (76 overall rating)
We highlighted Ugorji earlier this week, and it goes without saying that even if Florida has a QB emerge, it won’t matter if the starting left tackle for Florida is playing like a 76 overall.
Ugorji is going to be an early case study for Phil Trautwein’s ability to develop guys in Gainesville, because, if we are being honest, 76 is a bit generous based on what he has shown on the field to this point.
DJ Coleman (80 overall rating)
One of the more under-the-radar players for Florida heading into 2026, DJ Coleman transferred in from Baylor and seems to be in position to be the other starting safety alongside Bryce Thornton.
If Coleman plays like an 80 overall, the worry is that teams will scheme up ways to attack Coleman and negate whatever good Thornton might produce this season.
Jayden Woods (83 overall rating)
Now, for our money, Woods is rated too low and could justify an overall rating closer to 85 or 86. But given that he was one of the key cornerstone players that Sumrall worked to retain and that Florida didn’t really land a premier EDGE in the transfer portal en lieu of retaining Woods, he is going to need to play more like an 87 than an 83 for Florida to create the type of havoc it hopes to create in 2026.
