Florida has been on fire on the recruiting trail, and it feels like everyone they have targeted, they have landed. The Gators just landed yet another offensive lineman on Tuesday when four-star Kennedee Jackson out of Georgia.

But Jon Sumrall and crew are far from being done, and Florida is in the top three for another dynamic offensive weapon they should have a good shot at.

Florida makes the top three for RB Trey Martin

Trey Martin is a running back from Louisiana. Listed at 6’0” and 201 pounds, Martin is a four-star with Rivals and ESPN, while 247 has him as a three-star.

The thing about Martin that jumps out on film is that he doesn’t run like a 201-pound RB. His ability to change speeds and make quick cuts is the type of stuff one would expect from someone 30 pounds lighter. So while he doesn’t necessarily have game-breaking speed, which is backed up by him running a 11.41 in the 100-meter dash this past season, he has a style that just keeps opposing linebackers and safeties all balanced. He’ll plant his foot and act like he is coming straight at you, only to subtly wind up cutting to the side.

Martin just announced his top three with Florida, LSU, and Ole Miss still in the running. Martin took his official visit with Florida this past weekend and has official visits lined up with LSU and Ole Miss in the coming weeks. His 247 profile also indicates a visit to Alabama, who seemingly were in the running to land Martin, but the Crimson Tide did just land four-star RB Nigel Newkirk.

It is interesting, though, if Newkirk going to Alabama helps push Martin to Florida because the Gators already have another four-star running back, Andrew Beard, committed.

Florida fans won’t complain, though, if Martin winds up picking the Gators because, despite his star ranking being a tick lower than Beard's, he has a ton of traits that can transfer to Saturday, and he is going to be a fun prospect to watch.

Currently, Florida has 18 commits for the class of 2027 and is in the top five in both the Rivals and 247 rankings.
