As Florida gets ready to take on Texas, Gator fans might recognize Longhorn safety Xavier Filsaime from this one-time commitment to Florida. Filsaime has been hurt all year. He was cleared to play last week against Oklahoma but didn’t take any snaps.

But even when healthy, Filsaime still hasn't lived up to the recruiting hype Gator fans once had for him. And when you look at Florida’s class of 2024, almost none of the guys who left have gone on to accomplish much.

Xavier Filsaime is a reminder of the hope Florida’s class of 2024 once had

Filsaime was a class of 2024 prospect who was considered a top 100 overall four-star. He was part of a wave of Gators who committed to the program in the summer of 2023, vaulting Florida’s class of 2024 into the top five. As Florida hit a five-game losing streak to close out the season, he was one of seven decommits ranked in the top 250 overall by 247Sports.

So how have those seven decommits panned out?

(Ranking based off 247 Sports ranking)

Amaris Williams, DL, No. 30 - Auburn, Georgia

Williams was as good as gone for weeks prior to him actually flipping to Auburn. After two years with Auburn, he transferred to Georgia. He had two so-so years at Auburn and suffered a knee injury in the spring that has prevented him from playing this season.

Nasir Johnson, DL, No. 52 - Georgia

In three years at Georgia, Nasir Johnson has played a total of 49 snaps on defense.

Xavier Filsaime, DB, No. 62 - Texas

The inspiration for this piece, Filsaime did get 293 snaps last year as a rotational piece for Texas. But his tackling was extremely suspect and wasn’t exactly a shutdown guy in coverage. As mentioned above, he has been hurt all year but was cleared last week.

Jerrick Gibson, RB, No. 79 - Texas, Purdue

Based on what Texas people said, fumbles were the biggest problem for Gibson once he arrived in Austin. He had 78 rushing attempts as a true freshman, but was shuffled out of the rotation and transferred to Purdue this season, where he has only 18 rushing attempts.

Jamonta Waller, Edge, No. 105 - Auburn, Arkansas

We had so many arguments over Waller because some services ranked him super low. Turns out they were right: Waller took 10 snaps as a true freshman in his first-ever game and hasn't taken a defensive snap since.

Wardell Mack, CB, No. 243 - Texas

Yet another player from Florida’s class of 2024 who flipped to Texas, Mack saw minimal snaps as a true freshman. He had 104 snaps last year but was also arrested during the season. He hasn't taken a defensive snap this year.

Izaiah Williams, WR, No. 246 - Texas A&M, Kansas State

He was a late flip to Texas A&M, where he saw minimal playing time in 2024 and 2025. After nine total catches, he transferred to Kansas State this year, where he currently has two catches for 21 yards.
