The Easton Royal roller coaster has the Florida Gators back on the upswing, and a massive prediction seems to confirm that the 5-star wide receiver's interest in Gainesville is very real.
Steve Wiltfong, the Rivals/On3 Vice President of Recruiting, has logged a prediction for Royal to flip to Florida. The top-ranked wide receiver in the 2027 class has been committed to Texas for nearly two years, but that pledge has been called into question over the past few months, with the Gators and LSU Tigers both on his radar.

This is obviously the biggest sign that there is a serious shift in the Royal camp. Wiltfong loves dealing in speculation and will throw out a ton of tea out there during his regular spots on social media, but he's actually putting his name on a prediction that a flip is happening.
Royal has done his part to add to the speculation by soaking in the adoration he receives every time he steps on Florida's campus. His experience during the Ole Miss game gave the elite prospect an idea of what life is like in Gainesville when the Gators are really good.
There is also his relationship with Sumrall, who developed a bond with Royal while they were both in New Orleans, and the Gators' coach was leading Tulane to the College Football Playoff.
Florida's dream of landing 5-star Easton Royal could become a reality
Adding a talent like Royal is a big coup for any program, but for Sumrall and this Gators staff, it's a big endorsement of the culture that he is building at Florida. He has repeatedly talked about recruiting top players and that Florida has as much to sell recruits as any program in the country.
The 2027 class, as it currently sits, is ranked 11th nationally and sixth in the SEC with 25 total commitments. It's a balanced class that got rolling when five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller committed during the spring. The addition of Royal gives two five-star recruits in his first class and would send a message to the rest of the conference that Florida isn't going to take a backseat to anyone on the trail.
Royal is back in Gainesville this weekend, and with the Gators currently trailing South Carolina by three scores, he's going to get a much different experience than the citywide celebration he was part of two weeks ago, but that may also give him motivation to be part of the Gators and make sure the celebratory weekends become a regular occurrence.

This recruiting battle is far from over. Royal will likely be in Austin in Week 7 to watch the Gators take on Texas, and he's going to get a major pull from the Longhorns faithful. Plus, there's no question that Lane Kiffin is going to fight for an in-state player like Royal. Florida might be in the driver's seat, but there's plenty of traffic ahead.
