One of Jon Sumrall’s initial benchmark moments as coach of the Florida Gators was landing his first QB from recruiting. Sumrall locked in on Davin Davidson out of Sarasota, who has since seen his star ranking soar since comitting with the Gators.

And now ahead of this summer, Davidson has earned an invite to one of the most prestegious QB camps in the country.

Davin Davidson earns Elite 11 Finals invite

The Elite 11 Finals is a QB camp taking place in Los Angeles that annually features the who’s who of high school QBs. The list of invited QBs went out this week and Davidson is set to make the trek after getting an invite.

For Davidson himself, it’s a continuation of a recruiting boom since his 2025 season ended. At the start of 2026, Davidson was essentially unranked and only 247 even pretended to give him a star ranking. But after leading Cardinal Mooney to a state title in 2025 and watching his film, we said back in January before any of the ranking updates that:

“Davidson stands tall and doesn’t seem to panic much in the pocket. He frequently is able to fire throws into tight windows, and he is very comfortable when having to throw on the run, despite his lanky frame that could make throws like that a challenge.”

His ranking has since shot up and on the Rivals Industry Rankings he is 113th overall and ESPN has him as the 6th best QB in the class of 2027.

Davidson comitted to the Gators in early April.

The Elite 11 camp can be hit or miss in terms of actually evaluating QBs. Given they don’t have to deal with anything involving the line of scrimmage, a camp like this may not showcase Davidson’s 6’6” frame compared to if he actually had to look over people.

The Elite 11 Finals are set to take place from May 29 to June 1 in Los Angeles.
