Florida has had a ton of momentum on the recruiting trail and looks like they are in line to land a top ten class once the dust settles for its class of 2027. Maxwell Hiller and Davin Davidson are among the headliners for Jon Sumrall’s first full class.
But that doesn’t mean Florida is going to land everyone it goes after, and while the Gators are finalists for a highly rated four-star safety, it looks like they are not going to have their hat worn unless something drastic changes.
Florida trails Notre Dame for Zayden Gamble
Four-star safety Zayden Gamble had dropped his top four recently and was going to commit in July, but now he seems willing to commit right away and is set to make his verbal commitment on Saturday. Florida is a finalist with Notre Dame, Miami, and Ohio State.
Unless something crazy happens, most seem to believe that Gamble is going to commit to Notre Dame. 247 and Rivals both have multiple predictions logged that Gamble is going to choose the Fighting Irish. Even if he does choose Notre Dame, as of now, he still has an official visit lined up in June with Florida, which could leave the door open to try and flip him. Of course, Gamble could also commit tomorrow and opt to shut down his recruitment altogether.
Gamble is a player we were high on when he popped up on the radar back in February. When we first profiled him, we said:
“Gamble creates his own chaos and isn’t just reliant on being surrounded by other top prospects on the STA defense. His ball hawk skills are solid, his read of plays is great, and his ability to stay patient is really good. Because of his size, he is not the most physical of safeties, but that doesn’t stop him from having a willingness to shoot the gap and come downhill to make plays or to hold the edge as needed.”
Gamble is a consensus four-star prospect with 247 ranking him the highest at 174th overall.
