One by one, the Gators are building their list of official visitors for the class of 2027. Florida is still sitting on one official commit for Jon Sumrall’s first recruiting class, but is hoping for momentum once official visits get underway.
Florida just picked up another visitor to add to the list from a well-known Florida high school power, and the Gators are going to have to out-recruit a ghost from the past to land him.
Zayden Gamble sets an official visit with Florida
According to 247 and On3, safety Zayden Gamble is set to take an official visit to Florida. Gamble is listed at 5’11” and 165 pounds and is a four-star with 247 and ESPN, while he is a three-star with Rivals. Gamble plays for the famed Florida powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas.
On film, Gamble creates his own chaos and isn’t just reliant on being surrounded by other top prospects on the STA defense. His ball hawk skills are solid, his read of plays is great, and his ability to stay patient is really good. Because of his size, he is not the most physical of safeties, but that doesn’t stop him from having a willingness to shoot the gap and come downhill to make plays or to hold the edge as needed.
Gamble first got on Florida’s radar during the Billy Napier Era, and he was in town last month for Florida’s Junior Day. His 247 page indicates he also has a visit set up with Oregon, and Gamble is also firmly on the radar of Miami.
The latter could set up an interesting recruiting battle as Rivals lists former Florida defensive coach Will Harris as the primary recruiter for Gamble from Miami’s staff. During his time with the Gators, Harris was best known for tweeting out chess pieces, and so the hope for Sumrall and his staff is to play an Uno reverse card and checkmate Harris to land Gamble.
Gamble is also slated to make a visit to Gainesville during the spring.
