Yep, Brandon Spikes understands that Gator Nation is not happy that it's likely Lane Kiffin will not be Florida's next head football coach.
But the great former Florida linebacker is trying to bring some perspective to the situation. Maybe the Lane Kiffin roller coaster is more bumpy than people are ready to admit. Kiffin has never been known as a great recruiter and all that social media trolling is funny until he loses a game.
So all he's asking from the fans is to get behind the new guy, whomever that is.
Time to get off the lane train, it has too many stops. Our guy is gonna have one destination, Florida, and gator nation will have his back 🐊💯

Spikes has been sporting a visor
The linebacker didn't do himself any favors when it came to pumping the fanbase up with the Lane Kiffin rumors. A couple of days ago, he claimed he knew who the next Gators coach was, and yesterday he continued the gimmick with the visor.
Did Spikes really think Kiffin was coming? Did he hear bad information? Was he just joking around and trying to get a rise out of people? It could've been anything. Whatever it was, it clearly got the fans' attention, and now he's trying to calmly talk some people off the ledge.

Gator fans might need a little more convincing
Early reports have the Gators focused on Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall and there's still a lot of chatter about Washington head coach Jedd Fisch. Neither name has been well received by the majority of the Gator fans on social media.
And the initial feedback on Spikes' latest social media post shows that the fans still aren't ready to accept the idea of Sumrall or Fisch being the next coach. It's a frustrated group that feels like they've been through enough over the past decade and a half. The highs, which included an 11-win season from Will Muschamp in 2011, a couple of good seasons from Jim McElwain and a couple of appearances in the SEC Championship game under Dan Mullen, haven't balanced out the lows, which was basically Billy Napier's entire tenure.
UF administration has no passion to compete and win so of course they send out Spikes to try to soften the blow. People go to games to tailgate, enjoy the Swamp, and sing Tom Petty. The administration continues to bet the product on the field doesn't matter.

Maybe it's time to accept that whatever is going to happen is going to happen. And like the old song says: "if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with."
