As the coaching search for the Florida Gators is hopefully coming to a happy ending sometime this weekend, the national media doesn't have faith that Lane Kiffin is coming to Gainesville. A recent poll of 85 national media members revealed that over 50 of them predicted Kiffin would come to Gainesville.
But Gator legend and current Florida staff member Brandon Spikes dropped a clue on Facebook that he seems to knowthe answer everyone is searching for.
Brandon Spikes Facebook post teases something huge
In a post on his Facebook page, Spikes wrote, "Just learned who is going to be our next head football coach."
With it is a picture of Spikes wearing a Gator polo, along with a visor that has a bit of a retro feel.

Of course, the first thought for everyone is Kiffin. He, too, wears a visor on the sidelines and has been compared at length to Steve Spurrier, whose outfit Spikes somewhat resembles.
Now, whether or not Spikes actually knows would be up for debate. He is currently the Assistant Director of Player Development at Florida, so he would have at least some connections from inside the building.
While he probably isn't involved in the inner circle that would actually know what's going to happen, he does have the same level of quiet confidence that most from Florida's side have had throughout this process. LSU has been loud in its pursuit, while Florida has gone for an approach to keep information tight and sealed.
Some have also pointed out that Jedd Fisch, the current Washington coach who is a Florida alum and would probably be on the radar as a Plan B option, also wears a visor. We can't imagine, though, that if Spikes is teasing someone specific, he would tease Fisch at this point in the process.
If one wants to add one more piece of intrigue to the process, Graham Hall of Swamp247 noted that Florida's UAA plane with Scott Stricklin landed in Starkville yesterday. Stricklin's family is based in Starkville, but so is the Egg Bowl on Friday.
Florida's private plane is about to land in Starkville. Scott Stricklin's family lives there, and it could simply be a Thanksgiving visit.

But you know who else will be in Starkville soon for the Egg Bowl? pic.twitter.com/QbCVjz01rY
It's just two more nuggets to stir the pot this Thanksgiving.
