It’s safe to say that Florida is officially on fire with its class of 2027 and that Jon Sumrall has a clear vision in place for what he wants this group to prioritize. With Elijah Hutcheson pledging his commitment to Florida, it now gives the Gators three top 150 offensive linemen in the class of 2027.

And considering what recruitment for the offensive line looked like in the Billy Napier Era, this is a complete 180 that will pay dividends down the road.

Elijah Hutcheson adds to Florida’s deep offensive line class

We previewed Hutcheson yesterday and were very impressed with what we saw on film. Depending on the site one wants to go to, Hutcheson is 6’6” and weighs between 255 and 275 pounds. That is on the lighter side of top-rated offensive linemen.

But as we noted, what he puts on film more than makes up for the size gap that can be addressed once he gets on campus in Gainesville:

“On film, there is no mistaking where Hutcheson is on the field, as he looks like a complete monster who makes opposing defensive players question their love for football. Hutcheson has the type of physicality on film that has opposing coaches throw their hands up in the air, begging for a flag because it’s basically the only hope they have. His power looks like it comes naturally, and he can hold his ground with seemingly little effort.”

Florida had Clemson, Vanderbilt, and Virginia Tech to beat out as Hutcheson’s finalists, but multiple predictions had rolled in that he was set to choose Florida. It’s yet another recruiting win for Sumrall and offensive line coach Phil Trautwein. Florida has a blue-chip ratio in the Rivals rankings of 81%, the 6th-best overall percentage in the country.

The Gators are now up to 11 commits for the class of 2027, and the belief is that more commits are on the way as Florida tries to contend for a potential top-five class when all is said and done.
