Florida has been on a heater when it comes to landing offensive linemen for the class of 2027. The group is headlined by five-star Maxwell Hiller and was bolstered last week by four-star IOL Peyton Miller. Throw in the Gators making the final four for Layton von Brandt, another four-star tackle, and things are looking up in the trenches.

Well, now there is another top 100 four-star to keep an eye on as Florida appears to be one step closer to landing yet another elite prospect for 2027.

Gators potentially close to landing Elijah Hutcheson

Elijah Hutcheson is an offensive tackle out of Virginia. Listed at 6’6” and 275 pounds, he is a consensus four-star with all three major services, with Rivals ranking him the highest at 77th overall. In the 247 Composite rankings, he is 85th overall in the country.

On film, there is no mistaking where Hutcheson is on the field, as he looks like a complete monster who makes opposing defensive players question their love for football. Hutcheson has the type of physicality on film that has opposing coaches throw their hands up in the air, begging for a flag because it’s basically the only hope they have. His power looks like it comes naturally, and he can hold his ground with seemingly little effort.

Clemson, Florida, Vanderbilt, and Virginia Tech are all the main contenders for Hutcheson. The Gators first offered him back in March of 2025, but it wasn’t until last month that he had actually stepped foot on campus. That unofficial visit seems to have impressed him enough that Gators Online has logged a prediction that Florida will ultimately land Hutcheson.

If he does put on a Florida hat, it would give the Gators three top 150 offensive linemen prospects for the class of 2027. In the entirety of the Billy Napier Era, the Gators signed two offensive linemen ranked in the top 150 of the 247 rankings (Fletcher Westphal and Roderick Kearney).

As it stands right now, the Gators have 10 total commits for 2027, but more are expected to pop this week.
