When the injury report came out for the Florida Gators on Wednesday, it was littered with a ton of new players on the "questionable" list. When juxtaposed with the injury list from Texas A&M, it was jarring to see the number of guys Florida had banged up.
But with the updated Thursday injury report the Gators did get some good news with one of its key playmakers ahead of Saturday.
Aidan Mizell cleared to play against Texas A&M
Aidan Mizell was not on the Thursday injury report after he had popped up on the Wednesday report as questionable. Mizell's status has been a talking point all season as his snap count was low against USF and LSU, and he didn't play against Miami.
Billy Napier alluded to Mizell being hurt against Miami, even though Mizell had dressed out.
The bye week did Mizell good as he suited up with an increased role and had four catches off six targets on 31 total snaps.
If Mizell has gained favor with Napier and is healthy, his presence might also signal a reduced role for Eugene Wilson III.
Florida also cleared DT Joseph Mbatchou on their Thursday report. He did not play against Texas after he was held out with an undisclosed injury and was listed as questionable on the Wednesday report.
The true freshman has taken 47 snaps so far this season, including 27 snaps against Miami. He should be able to rotate in a defensive tackle unit that is having to replace the loss of Caleb Banks, who is still listed as out.
Texas A&M has just three players on their side of the injury report. Most notable is former Gator LB Scooby Williams being upgraded to probable. Williams was a mainstay this year in A&M rotation before he got hurt against Notre Dame.
Florida takes on Texas A&M on Saturday at 7 PM.
