The Wednesday injury report has come out, and the list of guys out or questionable has exploded for the Florida Gators. Thirteen guys are on the list for the Gators, a notable uptick from last week against Texas.
It's hard to assign any direct blame for why Florida has so many guys out, but fans are noticing that the Gators just always seem to have more guys hurt than the opposition.
Thirteen guys hurt for Florida ahead of Texas A&M
The Gators have six guys listed as out, none of whom are a massive surprise, but it's the list of seven players listed as questionable that has raised eyebrows:
OUT:
Caleb Banks
Duke Clark
Aaron Gates
Dijon Johnson
LJ McCray
Treyaun Webb
QUESTIONABLE:
Ja'Kobi Jackson
Roderick Kearney
Tony Livingston
Devon Manuel
Joseph Mbatchou
Aidan Mizell
Muizz Tounkara
Notable on this list is Duke Clark officially being out, which wasn't too much of a surprise after he left against Texas. Ja'kobi Jackson and Joseph Mbatchou being questionable is a postive development after both were out against Texas.
Aidan Mizell being questionable is a bit unfortunate as he seems to be dealing with injuries on and off.
When one looks over at the Texas A&M injury report, they have two dude total listed, including former Gator Scooby Williams being listed as questionable.
The real question is, why does Florida always seem to be on the short end of this report? This goes back to last year, when the Gators had 16 players listed on the initial injury report ahead of the Texas A&M game, and it was a theme that kept up all season.
Yes, this is football, and yes, some injuries are unavoidable, but the Gators have certainly found a way to consistently get players hurt at a rate higher than the opposition.
Billy Napier would tell everyone, "next man up," but at some point, it would be nice to keep the first man up.
