Gator Soccer entered Thursday night's contest against UCF with a chance to pull off its first three-game winning streak since 2019. After scoring nine goals in their previous two games, it looked like Florida was figuring things out with their attack.
But alas, Florida fell 1-0 off a goal in the 87th minute from a fluky bounce on a failed clearing attempt.
Florida had its chances, and both teams wound up with 11 shots on the night.
After the game, head coach Samantha Bohon told reporters:
"But I'm not mad at all. In fact, the opposite. I'm very positive about our team. We came in here and executed and again, I think this will help us moving forward. But, man, it stings, because we just don't feel like we deserve that result. But that's the game of soccer, and you gotta give UCF credit, they finished their chance."
Cross Country to begin season
In Jacksonville today, the Cross Country team will get its season underway at the Florida Intercollegiate Invitational, hosted by UNF.
The women have started the season ranked 11th in the country, while the men will have some work to do and are ranked 7th within the South Region.
Florida is not taking a full squad to UNF and only has three total meets scheduled prior to the SEC Championships.
