The restaurant chain Chipotle has announced a sponsorship deal with the Florida Gators to get athletes free food. According to a press release, all scholarship and walk-on athletes are going to be granted a card that gets them one free entree per week for 15 weeks.
The Gators join Ohio State and Georgia as the two other schools that are taking part in this program. Earlier this week DJ Lagway signed an NIL deal with the chain and was featured in a commercial with Walter Clayton Jr.
So don't be shocked if the Chipotle off University and 15th St. winds up being extra busy with Gator athletes moving forward.
Ben Shelton makes it to the 3rd round of the US Open
Former Florida Gator tennis star Ben Shelton has barely broken a sweat through two round at the US Open in New York City.
Shelton won his first match 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 and beat Pablo Carreño Busta in the 2nd round 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.
After his match, he had a viral moment with his girlfriend and women's soccer star Trinity Rodman.
Rodman was able to "sneak" into the post-match press conference and asked Shelton in a joking manner, "How did it feel not being able to serve faster than 135(mph) today?"
Shelton is still just 22 years old and is seeded 6th in this year's US Open. This year, Shelton made the semifinals at the Australian Open and the quarterfinals at Wimbledon.
Soccer looks for an official winning streak
In the 1994 movie Major League II, manager Lou Brown states at one point:
"OK, we won a game yesterday. If we win today, it's called "two in a row". And if we win again tomorrow, it's called a "winning streak." It has happened before."
Tonight, Gator soccer has a chance to do something it hasn't done since 2019:
A three-game winning streak.
Florida came from behind to beat Towsend 4-2 last week before a dominant 5-0 win over North Florida last Sunday.
Tonight, the Gators will take on UCF, against whom Florida is 0-4-1 in the past five meetings, but the two teams did tie last year 2-2.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM at home.
