Florida Football continues to build momentum on the recruiting trail, and while much of the focus has shifted toward the 2026 class, the Gators just landed one last addition for 2025. After months of speculation, four-star defensive back Onis Konanbanny has officially flipped his commitment from Tennessee to Florida.

Konanbanny, a 6'1", 180-pound prospect from Columbia, SC, originally committed to the Volunteers in August but opted not to sign during the Early Signing Period in December. That hesitation kept the door open for Florida head coach Billy Napier and his staff, who have been aggressively recruiting him in recent weeks.

Rated as a four-star by ESPN and Rivals, and a three-star by On3 and 247Sports, Konanbanny's composite ranking on 247 places him in the four-star range. His athletic profile is an interesting one—while his 11.49-second 100-meter dash time isn't elite for a defensive back, his explosiveness is evident in his film. His 22'3" personal best in the long jump hints at his ability to close space quickly, and he has consistently displayed playmaking ability on both sides of the ball.

Despite being recruited as a defensive back, Konanbanny also excelled as a wide receiver in high school, frequently winning matchups with his speed and ball-tracking skills. His ability to attack the ball and his willingness to play physically make him a strong addition to Florida’s secondary.

Napier’s persistence in recruiting Konanbanny paid off, and the defensive back himself hinted at the move before making it official. A couple of weeks ago, we highlighted a post on his X account that featured Napier taking jump shots in the Heathwood Hall Episcopal School gym.
