A busy recruiting weekend for Florida Football has come and gone, and the hope for the Gators following their win over LSU is to gain some much-needed momentum for the class of 2025.
Florida formally pulled off the flip of one FSU commit and is now hoping more can follow.
Florida Football: One step at a time
Last week, QB Tramell Jones de-committed from FSU, and quickly, the belief was that he was going to flip to Florida. Jones is considered a three-star prospect by On3 and 247, while ESPN and Rivals have him as a four-star, with Rivals listing him as the 36th-best overall player in the country.
In our profile of Jones last week, we said:
"There are plenty of positives. He stands tall in the pocket, never feels panicked, and keeps clean mechanics, whether he is throwing a screen or throwing 30+ yards downfield. He is capable of scrambling, though that's not a key component of his game."
The bigger hope for Florida is that Jones can get the ball rolling on several other top-tier prospects who were in town. Jamie Ffrench, a high school teammate of Jones, is a five-star wide receiver who took an official visit this weekend. Fellow five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson was in attendance and is going to come back for an official visit. There is also current FSU commit Solomon Thomas, who is also in the mix for Florida to flip.
The key for Billy Napier is to keep pulling off flips. We've seen plenty of times in the past where he gets top-tier guys on campus for a visit, but nothing further develops. With the flip of Jones, Florida is now 33rd in the 247 Team Rankings.
