Week five of the college football season is here, and if we are being honest, the slate of SEC games this week isn’t great. Not counting Florida, there are just six other games involving an SEC team. The nightcap in particular is not great this week, and we wouldn’t blame Florida fans for checking out some other games around the country.

As we do each week, this is our Week Five SEC Watch Guide to let Gator fans know which games in the SEC they should prioritize and which games they can skip.

SEC watch guide for Florida fans in Week Five

6. McNeese at No. 11 LSU - 7:45 PM | SEC Network | LSU -52.5 | O/U: 61.5

With a 52.5-point spread, nothing about this game is compelling unless it somehow gets close in the second half. The only reason to watch is if you happened to switch over to check it out and then fell asleep.

5. Arkansas at Texas A&M - 7:00 PM | ESPN2 | Texas A&M -14 | O/U: 50.5

The other night game this week should be closer, but that doesn’t mean it’s good. Arkansas fans have already given up on the season and Texas A&M has come back to Earth after making the playoffs last year. These are two teams freefalling towards the bottom half of the SEC.

4. Auburn at No. 17 Tennessee - 3:30 PM | ESPN | Tennessee -7 | O/U: 53.5

Honestly, if this game wasn’t during the exact same time as Florida, this would be No. 2 on our list. But as we have done all season, we have to knock it down since it’s at the same time as the Gators.

3. Vanderbilt at No. 2 Georgia - 12:45 PM | SEC Network | Georgia -25.5 | O/U: 50.5

The fact that this is the third most watchable game showcases how weak this week’s slate is. And we probably could justify bumping this down the list given the 25.5-point spread. But since we are in October and the Gators play Georgia this month, it’s getting to be that time when we have to start paying attention to the Bulldogs.

2. No. 24 Kentucky at South Carolina - 4:15 PM | SEC Network | South Carolina -3 | O/U: 54.5

What does Vegas know the rest of us don’t? They were dead on last week when they projected Florida to beat Ole Miss, and they seem to be calling their shot again this week to have South Carolina beat Kentucky. Depending on the length of Florida’s game, Gator fans might only catch the 4th quarter. But if South Carolina hangs around, it could set up for an exciting finish.

1. No. 7 Alabama at No. 16 Mississippi State - 12:00 PM | ABC | Alabama -6 | O/U: 60.5

For as much of a surprise as the Gators have been this year to the national public, Mississippi State has a chance to be the genuine shock of the 2026 season. The Bulldogs have some nice wins this year, but Saturday’s showdown with Alabama provides a chance to definitely declare themselves as a playoff contender.
