Former Florida tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. scored his first touchdown of the season in a Falcons win over the Commanders earlier today.

Pitts had his best outing of the season against the Commanders, tallying five receptions for seventy yards. He caught every ball thrown his way.

Besides his touchdown, Pitts also made an important catch to convert a third-down conversion in the final minutes of the game.

In his fifth year in the NFL, the former Florida tight end is looking for more stability and success than he's been subject to thus far. Since his record-breaking rookie season, the Dan Mullen product has yet to record more than 700 yards and four touchdowns in a season, and he has dealt with numerous injuries.

In fact, many questioned whether he would return to Atlanta for this season, though a trade move was never made.

He was drafted fourth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He remains the highest-drafted tight end in NFL history, and he is also tied for the third-highest drafted Florida player in its history.

Career at Florida

Pitts, a former four-star prospect, spent four years with the Gators, recording over 1,400 yards in his collegiate career (2020 season was shortened due to COVID-19 restrictions). He started in the 2019 and 2020 seasons, with the latter being considered amongst one of the greatest seasons by a tight end in college football history.

In 2020, his final season with the Gators, he tallied twelve touchdowns in just eight games (missed action due to injury), while gaining 770 yards on 43 receptions. He was a unanimous All-American and won the John Mackey Award for displaying the best tight end play in college football.

Many NFL experts consider him the greatest tight end prospect of all time, but he has failed to live up to the hype thus far.
