As Florida’s recruiting class for 2027 keeps humming along, Jon Sumrall and crew still need to seal the deal and close things. The Gators have solid momentum and are is position to potentially land a top ten overall class, but will still need official visits this summer to go well.
And as Florida’s official visitors list keeps growing, they added one more to the list as they hope to land a top 100 overall linebacker.
AJ Randle Jr. puts Florida in his final six
AJ Randle Jr. is a linebacker from North Carolina. Listed at 6’3” and 210 pounds, he is a composite top 100 overall prospect. Rivals has him the highest at 57th overall, while ESPN has him the lowest at 149th.
On film, Randle can be seen all over the film, whether it's offense or defense. He’s a case where there isn’t necessarily one singular play that blows you away, but rather a nine-minute montage of solid football play after solid football play. As an OLB, which is what most think he will play in college, he holds the edge well and doesn’t seem to get tied up in traffic. His burst doesn’t necessarily “look” explosive, but some of that is due to the lanky frame that allows him to cover ground in an instant. No matter where you are on the field, he will track you down.
And he has the pure athleticism where he could probably be a competent full-time high school QB if he wanted to, along with any other skill position his coaching staff wanted to play him at. We’re not 100% sold on the ranking Rivals gives him, but there is no mistaking that there is a lot to work with here, especially as he gets stronger and stronger in the weight room.
Randle narrowed his list down to the final six schools, and Florida is in the running with Ohio State, Georgia, Miami, South Carolina, and NC State. His official visit to Florida is set for the weekend of May 28, which falls in the middle of all his summer visits.
The belief right now is that Florida has a good shot to land him, with Miami also near the top of Randle’s actual list.
