The Florida Gators gained momentum toward landing an ESPN Top-300 defensive linemen as Cahron Wheeler, out of Brooklandville, Maryland, revealed his Final-6 on Sunday and the Gators are still in the running.

Wheeler, 6’5”, 230lbs is a strong weapon on defense that the Gators could benefit from adding. In his 2025 junior campaign (his only season on varsity), he recorded a total of 30 tackles (26 solo, four assists, and six tackles for loss). He recorded four sacks causing 37 total yards lost by the offense, and one interception.

The junior from St. Paul’s is ranked No. 123 in Maryland and No. 8 in the MIAA B Division for sacks (four), and No. 18 in the MIAA B division for his one interception.

The stats support the film shown on Wheeler. While he may not be the fastest off the line, he is a strong, and if you go toward him, he will push you back. He is a brick wall on the line and not many make it past him. Wheeler also has great vision on the field, an ability to find the ball (noting the one interception he had), and make plays.

Wheeler is ranked by On3 as the No. 128 prospect nationally, the No. 14 EDGE, and the No. 3 prospect out of Maryland.

Beyond the football field, Wheeler is also a two-sport varsity athlete, playing basketball as well at St. Paul’s.

Along with Florida, who Wheeler received his official offer from in December, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Minnesota, Auburn, and Clemson remain in his top-six.

He has official visits set for this summer, and that includes Florida. He set his official visit after liking what he saw on April 4 when he was in Gainesville for his unofficial visit.

This summer’s visit will be crucial for Jon Sumrall and the Gators if they want to lock him down and make him a Gator.
