Dallas Wilson will be taking it slow this spring, but the former five-star wide receiver said he'll be very engaged with the new coaching staff while he continues to recover from a foot injury that forced him to miss much of the 2026 season.

Wilson met with the local media Thursday and talked about his plans for this spring and overall thoughts on what Jon Sumrall, Buster Faulkner and others have brought to the Gators since arriving three months ago.

Wilson said one of the most important things for him to do right now is to be involved in the meetings and understand the concepts that Faulkner will be installing into the offense. Sumrall said earlier in the week that there were no concrete plans for Wilson this spring other than to get 100 percent healthy so he can be available all season.

While there is a hope that Wilson will eventually get some live action in the spring, Faulkner told the media that the sophomore is doing a lot of mental reps and staying sharp with his preparation.

"The biggest thing with him is when he does get back we want it to be over. So we're in no hurry to get him out there," Faulkner said. "Eventually, you know, hopefully we'll be able to see him in the spring, but if not, that's OK. We've got plenty of time, and he's a kid that will put in the work to be ready to play."

Faulkner added that Wilson is attending all the meetings and walkthroughs and that he's shown a willingness to do the necessary work to stay prepared and go back on the field as soon as possible.

"He's another one that's a joy to be around. Loves football," Faulkner added. "I think he's disappointed he can't go through the first couple weeks, but the way things are structured now...you've got spring ball, and you've got all summer, we've got time."
