Florida fans continue to be on Jadan Baugh watch as they wonder whether or not the star running back is going to return to Gainesville for the 2026 season. Baugh has been heavily linked to potentially jumping in the transfer portal to Texas, with Ohio State and Georgia also lurking around.

But if one didn’t pay attention to insider reports and just followed the narrative that players themselves put out into the public sphere, one would think all is normal with Baugh, and he will be the featured star at Florida to start the Jon Sumrall Era.

Jadan Baugh shouts out Jon Sumrall ahead of the playoffs

Baugh took to Instagram and posted to his story a graphic the Florida social media team had posted to wish Sumrall luck as Tulane gets ready to take on Ole Miss in the first round of the playoffs. He included the caption “Business Tripp (sic) coach.” Baugh also included the song “Won’t Back Down” as part of his story.

What does it all mean?

Nobody actually knows.

But for someone who has to know the storylines surrounding him as to whether or not he is going to transfer or stay, it is notable that Baugh wished Sumrall luck. Baugh has never played a down for Sumrall and has yet to take part in a single practice for Sumrall, but he is still wishing the new Florida coach good luck when he really didn’t have to.

Sumrall has stated that Baugh is a “high priority” to keep for the 2026 season and even mentioned Baugh by name during his intro press conference. And despite reports from “agent sources” that Baugh is going to hit the portal, Sumrall is continuing to keep in contact with Baugh, and Florida people feel 50-50 in terms of keeping him.

Baugh became the first Florida running back in a decade to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season in 2025. His 266-yard day against FSU is the 2nd most in program history for a single game, only behind Emmitt Smith. Baugh was also the 4th highest rated Power Four running back on Pro Football Focus among running backs with at least 200 carries.
