The Florida Gators made a lot of mistakes on USF's final game-winning drive of the game, from a pass interference penalty to then a Florida player spitting on a USF player to draw an unsportsmanlike penalty. That was 30 free yards right there for the Bulls, but one mistake that isn't getting talked about enough is Billy Napier's clock management on that drive.
On that drive, the Gators still had two timeouts left, and at any point, Napier could have chosen to take them to try and slow USF down, knock them out of rhythm, something, but instead Napier chose to leave them in his pocket. It is bad enough that Napier didn't use the timeouts, but his reasoning as to why is even worse.
"There's gonna be a field goal kicked...so regardless of when the timeouts get called, it's going to end up about the same," Napier said.

Napier, that is not exactly how that works. Calling those timeouts could have given your defense a breather in order to try and get a stop sooner, it could have knocked USF off their game a bit as they were just rocking and rolling on the field, it could have done a lot of things.
What Napier is saying in that clip was that once the Bulls got into range, Napier already knew his team wasn't going to win. Someone may want to remind Napier that college kickers are still college kickers. No one is ever guaranteed to make a kick, so instead of giving the kicker a chip shot that he can probably make with his eyes closed, Napier could have called a timeout and talked to his defense.
He could have given his defense a better chance at getting a stop with time on the clock, and sure, if USF makes the field goal, then at least the Gator offense gets a chance to respond.
It just seemed like at that point, Napier threw in the towel, and at this point, he has no one to blame for that loss other than himself, and fans are calling for his job, and he may be out of one soon.
