Florida Baseball looks to stay hot against USF

Throughout the course of the stand-alone game in Gainesville, the Gators will be looking for freshman infielder Brendan Lawson to stay hot. His latest big hit came on a grand slam during the ninth inning of game two of Florida’s doubleheader with South Carolina on Sunday, it was his ninth home run of the season.

After a strong weekend in South Carolina, the Gators will hope their pitching staff can start strong against South Florida and then lead the way for the bullpen to shut it down. Given it's a midweek game, we'll probably see some combination of Alex Philpott, Jackson Barberi, and Caden McDonald piecing together innings.

First baseman, Brody Donay is coming off of a strong 2-for-4 game against South Carolina in which he had two runs scored an RBI, including a home run. Over the course of the season, he is batting .318/.662, with a .426 on base percentage.

Ashton Wilson, the junior from Orlando was 3-for-3 on Sunday with two RBIs and a run scored, including a double.

Ty Evans and Hayden Yost also homered on Sunday. Yost’s was a three-run shot.

Yost, who grew up near USF is batting .280/ .397, with a .395 on base percentage. He has driven in 34 RBIs and has 43 runs scored. He will look to keep his four-game hit streak alive on Tuesday.

The player to keep an eye on for the Bulls is Senior Sebastian Greico, who is batting .438, with seven hits, three doubles, and 13 total bases.

Florida has a dominating lead over South Florida in the overall series between the two clubs in their 98-meetings. They will look to claim victory in meet-up no. 99 as the two clubs wind down the season.

Florida only has two series remaining after their game against USF, including three games on the road against Texas and three games back in Gainesville against Alabama.

First pitch for Tuesday night's matchup is set for 6:30PM and will stream on SEC Network +.
