As we have mentioned all offseason, one of the things that has felt extremely noticeable with Jon Sumrall’s recruiting efforts is the amount of highly regarded offensive linemen the Gators have had early traction with. New offensive line coach Phil Trautwein seems to have the ear of almost every four and five-star prospect, and the future has a chance to be bright in the trenches.

And it’s not just 2027 prospect Trautwein is going after as he is also in contact with one of the top 2028 offensive tackles in the country.

Kweli Fielder to visit Florida in the spring

Kweli Fielder is an offensive tackle out of Carrollton, GA. Listed at 6’4” and 310 pounds, Fielder is listed as the 18th-best overall prospect by 247 and the 86th overall prospect by Rivals. ESPN does not have rankings out yet for the class of 2028.

Keeping in mind that he was just a high school sophomore this past season, Fielder has the size and explosiveness of a senior who looks like he could step onto a college campus right now. Nothing seems to faze him, and he is effortless with matching whatever move an opposing EDGE might throw at him. For someone who is 310 pounds, he moves at times like someone who is 200 pounds.

He doesn’t have quite the power of a five-star senior just yet, but with two more years of high school, that should come in time as long as he stays dedicated in the weight room.

Fielder recently spoke with 247 Sports and indicated he will be taking a visit this spring to Florida, along with a host of other schools that include Ohio State.

With any class of 2028 prospect, we’ll see what twists and turns Fielder’s recruitment brings. But it’s never a bad thing to have someone with this upside on the radar early, and we’ll see what headway Trautwein can make over the coming months.
