Coming off a sloppy game one performance against Ole Miss, the Gators were going to need a strong outing from Aidan King in game two of the series to not only eat up innings to save the bullpen but also to prevent a massive series loss. King answered the bell with a masterclass outing that goes down as one of the best outings of his college career.

And Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco was none too happy with King and eventually melted down as he tried desperately to speak with a manager.

Aidan King helps shut out Ole Miss

King went 7.0 innings with just four hits, no walks, and eight strikeouts en route to no runs allowed. It matches the 7.0 inning outing he had last year against Texas, where he also allowed no runs. King also navigated his outing in a tidy 93 pitches before Jackson Barberi and Joshua Whritenour closed things out.

But since Florida only scored two runs itself, both in the third inning, the game was a tense one in the 7th inning when King picked up his eighth and final strikeout. King was fired up and animated after the strikeout, making a “Let’s go” gesture multiple times towards the Ole Miss dugout as he walked back towards the Florida dugout.

Florida fans loved the moment. Bianco did not.

Bianco came out between innings to complain to anyone who would listen that King hurt their feelings and that he should be ejected and subsequently suspended for unsportsmanlike conduct. Never mind that earlier Ole Miss players were telling King, “F you,” Bianco only cares when it happens to his players.

Of course, there is precedent to kick a player out who dares to be happy at a baseball game. Brandon Neely was infamously ejected and suspended back in 2023 for having emotion.

But it is a comical look from Ole Miss and Bianco for his squad to manage just four hits in seven innings, and the thing he is most worried about is King being fired up rather than the fact that his own team couldn’t hit.

Florida went on to win the game 2-0.

Game three is Saturday at 7:30 PM.
