Royal has been committed to Texas since November and will be in Austin next weekend to close out the official visit season, but today he's at Florida and the Gators are one of the programs that has the five-star wide receiver's attention. He took an earlier official visit to LSU, and it's those three programs that the elite prospect from New Orleans is focused on as he prepares to wrap his recruitment up before his senior year in high school.
"LSU is assured a seat at the final table with Texas, now it's Florida's time to answer. Depending on who you speak to, you might hear that Easton Royal is going to end up sticking with Texas, you might hear that he's going to end up flipping to LSU, or you might hear what a lot of the intel has said is that Florida might be the team best positioned to flip Royal away from Texas," Rivals/On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman said.
Easton Royal is making the most of his official visit to Florida
Royal has been a frequent visitor to Florida over the past 12 months and any concerns that his interest in the Gators would change after Billy Napier was fired have proved to be unwarranted. The relationship that Royal has with Sumrall is strong, and it's one that was developed when the Gators coach was leading Tulane to the College Football Playoff. And, as Spiegelman said, Royal has always been high on Florida and added that the Gators' NIL package for Royal would be very competitive with what he has reportedly been offered from Texas.
"Before he committed to Texas, Florida was one of his top schools. They got him on campus this spring. He has a fantastic relationship with Jon Sumrall and has loved his visits to Gainesville," Spiegelman concluded.
Part of Royal's trip to Florida included posing with the Heisman Trophy and envisioning a world where he becomes the first non-QB to win the honor for the Gators.

Royal recently earned super five-star status from Rivals
Both Rivals/On3 and 247Sports updated their rankings over the past week and on the Rivals site, Royal was elevated to the No. 1 wide receiver prospect in the country ahead of Indianapolis prospect Monshun Sales. He was also given a "five-star plus" designation.
The former two-time Allstate Athlete of the Month in both football and track, Royal is a five-star player on both sides. He is ranked sixth overall by Rivals and 15th overall by 247Sports. If the Gators can land Royal, he will give them a second recruit in the top-10 of the composite rankings, joining five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller.
