Just a few weeks ago, four-star cornerback CJ Bronaugh committed to the Florida Gators. Almost immediately, rumors started flying that he would once again flip his commitment, originally flipping from the Nebraska Cornhuskers after an incredible visit to Gainesville.
However, Bronaugh quickly shut down those rumors, and all it took was a simple message about why he chose the Gators:
"I know this is where I belong," Bronaugh said when he officially shutdown his recruitment process.
Bronaugh last visited the Gators on June 17, 2025, and committed to play for Florida and head coach Billy Napier just one day later. Since then, he has been all in on UF. The Florida native kept it simple when he committed: "I’m happy to finally be home, GO GATORS."

The young cornerback grew up in Winter Garden, just over two hours away from the Gators' home in Gainesville. So, it was quite a surprise when Bronaugh committed to the Cornhuskers, a program based over 1,400 miles away from home.
During his sophomore season of high school football, Bronaugh played on both sides of the ball, earning snaps as a defensive back and running back. On offense, he had just two carries but earned 46 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, Bronaugh quickly amassed 30 total tackles (all solo), three tackles for loss, two sacks, six interceptions, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble. On top of all that, he even attempted a kick return for 18 yards, showing off his ability on special teams as well.
Bronaugh joined Florida's class of 2026 recruits, which currently ranks No. 14 in the country and No. 7 in the SEC. Bronaugh was one of 13 four-star prospects to commit so far, alongside five three-star prospects from the class.
