Faith in Florida Football from Las Vegas was low heading into the 2024 season. The Gators were projected to win 4.5 games, but a late-season surge propelled Florida well past that mark as the squad finished 8-5.
There is a feeling heading into 2025 that Florida could make a push into the playoffs if DJ Lagway winds up being who we think he could be. Oddsmakers in Vegas don't seem to be as convinced.
Florida Football: Hammer Time
FanDuel has started to release some early Over/Under win totals for the 2025 season, and they have the line for Florida set at 6.5 wins.
This feels comically low, considering Lagway was 6-0 in games he started and finished in 2024. Florida is also bringing back four of their five starters along the offensive line, as well as their stable of running backs led by Jadan Baugh.
Combined with Eugene Wilson returning from injury, along with Caleb Banks and Tyreak Sapp opting to stay for one more year, there is more than enough talent on this roster for Florida fans to look at 6.5 wins and hammer the over.
But... there is a reason they build skyscrapers in the desert.
The wide receiver room as a whole is a wildcard, and Florida will notably need to replace key starters at defensive tackle and at safety. Florida is essentially playing the exact same schedule they did in 2024 when they squeaked to a 7-5 regular season, and Napier, as of now, is insisting on still being the offensive coordinator.
Make no mistake about it: hitting the over in 2025 doesn't mean Florida is successful. Anything short of the playoffs is going to mean Napier doesn't have Florida where they were supposed to be by year four of his tenure.
But if Florida somehow hits the under on this 6.5 win total, even the most adamant of Napier supporters would need to admit it is time to move on.
