It is hard sometimes to make proper evaluations when facing an overmatched opponent, and the narrative was no different Saturday night as Florida football cruised past McNeese State in a relatively stress-free affair.

But even with the minimal pushback, three Gators in particular, who are not among the usual suspects for Florida, stood out for their play Saturday night.

Florida Football Stand Outs: Jaydon Hill

The story for Jaydon Hill is a long and winding one. After a torn ACL prevented a 2021 campaign, Hill returned to the field last season and had a monster game against Missouri before having a decent but not spectacular rest of his season.

Now firmly entrenched at the STAR position, Hill flashed multiple times against McNeese State.

He had a couple of nice open-field tackles and had a really nice read to get credited with a pass breakup.

With Jadarrius Perkins now gone, Hill’s play will be vital to the success of the defense.

Scooby Williams

We have highlighted Williams a couple of times on this site as a former top-50 prospect who hasn’t found his footing in Gainesville. While the athleticism has never been in question, he struggled last season to understand defensive assignments and make the correct reads.

Williams has looked much improved this season, and with the game seemingly slowed down for him, he is able to unleash his athleticism.

He picked up a sack on a well-read delayed blitz on Saturday.

Treyaun Webb

Webb may not have the elite speed that some people crave in a running back, but he showcased on Saturday that he is an elusive runner between the tackles and is hard to bring down.

The freshman had 14 carries for 71 yards and two touchdowns.

We know from last season that Billy Napier prefers a three-running back rotation, even if very few schools utilize that.

But given Webb’s performance, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him get a couple of series against Tennessee this week.
