As the season fast approaches for Florida football, we are continuing our series of the freshmen on campus and what the odds are they appear this season with the Gators. If you follow recruiting, these will be household names. But if not, these can be a good refresher to catch you up to speed.

We have previously profiled:

Today we take a look at four-star defensive tackle Will Norman.

Florida Football: Continuing to grow

Coming out of high school, Norman was rated as a four-star prospect by all four recruiting services and was rated as high as 91st in the country by Rivals.

Listed in high school at 6’4″ and in the 290-pound range, Norman was one of the larger defensive linemen in the class of 2023.

His film was solid, and he had no issue pushing the pile backward and blowing up running plays. When given the opportunity to wrap up, he did so with force, and when asked to play on the edge, he showcased good edge discipline.

His first step wasn’t necessarily elite, but he was a menace that opposing offensive lines had to account for and oftentimes couldn’t.

You can view his senior year film here.

Odds of redshirting: High

This isn’t to say that Norman is doing anything bad in camp, but there is a logjam at the defensive tackle position. Cam Jackson, Desmond Watson, Chris McClellan, and Caleb Banks all figure to get regular snaps along the interior of the defensive line.

Listed at 293 pounds, Norman has yet to add the size needed to hold up in the SEC. Of the before mentioned group of four, Banks is the lightest of that group at 323 pounds.

In time, Norman will beef up and factor into the regular rotation. But his name hasn’t been brought up much during Fall Camp so far, and we anticipate him getting his allotted four games and then redshirting.

Next. Andy Jean is poised to breakout. dark
