As the season fast approaches for Florida football, we are continuing our series of the freshmen on campus and what the odds are they appear this season with the Gators. If you follow recruiting, these will be household names. But if not, these can be a good refresher to catch you up to speed.

We have previously profiled:

Today we look at one of the under-the-radar wide receivers from the 2023 recruiting class, Andy Jean.

Florida Football: Seeing is believing

Jean was a tweener three-star/four-star prospect out of Miami. On3 and Rivals consider him a four-star, while 247 and ESPN do not.

The hype around Jean is that for 11 minutes and nine seconds on his high school senior year highlight film, he puts on an absolute clinic.

Need film of him streaking past the secondary? Check

Need film of him absorbing contact and completing the catch? Check.

Need film of him escaping tight spaces? Check.

Need film of him showcasing his catch radius? Check.

There isn’t much that Jean doesn’t demonstrate, and one of the reasons he is mired down in the tweener range is he has average height (6’1″) and was in the 170-pound range in high school.

He claims a 4.4 40-yard dash on his Hudl page and was a member of Miami Northwestern’s state title-winning 4 X 1 in 2022.

Odds of redshirting: Low (ish)

Jean is part of a talented crop of freshman wide receivers Florida football has brought in for the 2023 season.

Ricky Pearsall, Caleb Douglas, and Marcus Burke all have the inside track for the starting slots, but after that, it’s Ja’Quavion Fraziars and Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman as the only other receivers in the way of playing time for these freshmen.

The buzz on Wilson is sky-high, and one would assume he is going to get playing time as well. Mizell is also getting buzz, and what is hard to decipher is if all three are going to get consistent playing time, as the receiver rotation can only go so deep.

Napier did give Jean love during a recent press conference and said he has come along nicely, so we anticipate seeing Jean get some early action once to the season begins.

Next. Jackson will see early action. dark
