As the opening kickoff for Florida football is fast approaching, one of the reminders we get throughout the offseason is just how strong these players are relative to normal human beings.

One player, in particular, has been moving some serious weight, especially considering his overall size.

Florida Football: It’s not the size of the dog…

Eugene Wilson is an incoming freshman for the Gators. He was not on campus during the Spring, but the 5-10 wide receiver out of Tampa is one of the hidden gems for Billy Napier. Wilson was a three-star prospect rated 697th overall in the 247 Composite rankings as of February of 2022 that finished his high school career ranked 109th.

Already, Wilson has bumped his listed high school weight of 165 pounds to 180 pounds.

It’s not hard to figure out why when looking at some of his efforts in the weight room.

Earlier this week, Wilson posted on his Instagram page a max squat effort of 570 pounds.

Of course, leave it to the trolls from the Neighbors to the West to try and craft a narrative that this is actually a bad thing, but according to StrengthLevel.Com, the lift is better than 99.8% of lifters that weigh 180 pounds.

Wilson wasn’t done showing off that he might already be pound for pound the strongest player in college football, as he later posted a video of him bench pressing 315 pounds.

More elements to Wilson’s game will need to emerge for him to be a truly elite player. Squatting 570 pounds and bench pressing 315 pounds don’t automatically make one a great football player. Route running, catching ability, and overall football IQ are among some of the factors that will also dictate Wilson’s success with Florida football.

But when you take a player that already has explosive route running ability, and now you make it even harder to bring him down, it is easy to see why Florida fans are excited to see Wilson in action this Fall.
