Florida Gators: Back-to-back mayhem in the Swamp

When Anthony Richardson brought Florida within one final toss to the endzone this past season, Volunteer fans had all the flashbacks and bad memories flood their brain space. As much as the moment was cathartic for Tennessee, it was a reminder of the chaos Florida got away with in back-to-back meetings in Gainesville.

The 2015 matchup saw Florida fall behind 27-21 and they were faced with a 4th-and-14 on their own 37-yard line with 1:39 left to play.

Of course, we know how the rest of the story goes, Will Grier threw to an open Antonio Callaway, who evaded three Tennessee defenders after Brandon Powell took them all out and 63-yards later the Florida Gators somehow had a 28-27 lead.

Tennessee missed a last second field goal and the comeback was complete.

Florida followed this up in 2017 with another soul crushing win over the team from Knoxville. This ranks slightly lower than the 2015 moment simply because the score was tied, so the Gators were not in eminent danger of losing.

But almost too apropos, as Florida was once again 63 yards away from the endzone, Feleipe Franks rolled out and chucked a pass that kept sailing.

And sailing.

And sailing.

And eventually fell into the waiting arms of Tyree Cleveland for the walk off hail mary.
