The Super Bowl has ended and the Kansas City Chiefs once again reign supreme in the NFL after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles. While the immediate aftermath of the game is whether or not the Eagles were guilty of defensive holding, it was former members of Florida football that had the biggest and most memorable impact on The Big Game.

Florida Football: Kadarius Toney enters the history books

It is easy to forget that Kadarius Toney was only a three-star recruit coming out of high school, but he finally figured it out during his senior season with Florida football and it translated to him being a first round draft pick with the New York Giants.

His time in New York didn’t work out, so he was traded to Kansas City. Patrick Mahomes has Toney to thank as much as anyone for winning the Super Bowl.

On his touchdown grab, Toney acted like he was going in motion and the trailing cornerback bit hard on Toney coming across the field.

Except Toney never did go across the field and he was left wide open for the touchdown.

He wasn’t done as he would follow up his touchdown with the longest punt return in Super Bowl history when he came within five yards of another touchdown.

In addition to being a three-star recruit, Toney only returned 13 punts total during his time with the Florida Gators. Now he is a Super Bowl champion.

But Kadarius Toney wasn’t the only former member of Florida football to steal the spotlight. Chauncey Gardner, now known as CJ Gardner-Johnson, delivered a massive hit with under five minutes to play that forced a TV timeout due to injury.

Tommy Townsend also got in on immortality. Even though his punts were not the greatest, Townsend was on the field to be the holder for the Super Bowl winning field goal.

In addition to Carlos Dunlap and La’Mical Perine also earning a Super Bowl ring tonight, it was a good day for Florida football.
