Florida Gator News: O’Cyrus Torrence impresses at Senior Bowl practice
Practice for the Reese’s Senior Bowl is underway and as we wrote yesterday the Florida Gators have two representatives participating in the game, O’Cyrus Torrence and Richard Gouraige. Typically with these all-star games, the practices leading up to the game are just as important as the game itself as players are working directly with NFL coaches and have the opportunity to speak with personnel from all 32 teams.
Torrence is a projected late-first-round pick that continues to build momentum with fan bases around the NFL that are in desperate need of an offensive lineman. Yesterday Torrence drew praise for his performance and will continue to be a hot commodity come draft day if he has two more strong practices.
Florida Gators National Signing Day
February 1st used to be one of the most significant days on the college football calendar. But thanks to early signing day, most major programs will barely bat an eye today. According to 247 Sports, less than 10 players in their top 300 rankings are still unsigned.
The Florida Gators will have preferred walk-on Jackson Wade signing today, but beyond that don’t expect many fireworks to emerge from today.
Florida Gators round up
The Florida Gators men’s golf team is in full swing…literally…and the squad captured the title at the Sea Best Invitational. Florida was the only team to have a score under par, tallying a -14 over the three-round event. North Florida was 2nd with +9.
Fred Biondi and Ricky Castillo both shot 6 under to tie for first, with Bondi winning in a playoff.
Gymnastics is still ranked 2nd in the country and Trinity Thomas picked up SEC honors this week at the SEC Specialist of the Week. Thomas earned a perfect 10 on the vault during the Gators meet against Georgia on Friday.
Gymnastics takes on Arkansas this Friday.
