Florida football: Best bets for Florida vs Texas A&M week 10
By Will Thomas
Florida football’s trip to College Station is just two days away, and this is an important game for Billy Napier’s Gators. They’re looking for their first win since October 8th against Missouri, and need to get the team back on track.
We previewed the betting lines for this game earlier in the week, and now we’ll hit you with our best bets for this weekend.
Last week against UGA, we went 2/2, hitting both Florida +22.5 and the over. We’ll try and be that efficient again this weekend.
Florida football: Best bets vs Texas A&M
Earlier this week the Gators were three-point underdogs, and that line has since ticked up to 3.5.
It makes sense that the Aggies are the favorite here. Florida has hit a rough patch the past few weeks, and just dismissed Brenton Cox Jr., one of the leaders of the defensive line, to make things even harder for a defensive unit that already struggled.
Here’s where I think the Gators have the advantage: the running game. We all know that Florida likes to run the ball and wear down the opposing defense. A&M does not look great against the run.
Ole Miss walked onto Kyle Field last week and ran for 390 yards on 6.2 yards per carry. That isn’t too good if you’re Jimbo Fisher.
Also, A&M’s new QB, Connor Weigman, should be slightly less effective against UF than he was against the Rebels. He made his first career start last week, which at first seems like an advantage for Ole Miss.
But he started at home, with a good RB, and no hostile environment facing him. Now, UF has film on Weigman, something Ole Miss didn’t have. Granted, UF’s defense hasn’t been great at stopping any QB, but if they play press-man coverage again like they did against UGA, they could shut Wiegman down and make A&M one-dimensional.
For these reasons, and also my never-ending bias towards Florida, I’ll take the Gators +3.5 on the road.
The over/under has moved two points, from 53.5 to 55.5. My gut early in the week was over, but that has shifted to the under.
Florida is going to run the ball a ton this week. That means the clock is moving and everyone gets fewer possessions. I also believe the defense will hold up well against Weigman and the Aggie offense like I said before, as long as Achane doesn’t go for 250 and 3 TDs.
So for this week, our best bets are Florida +3.5, and under 55.5.
Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
