As we approach Florida football’s matchup against the Kentucky Wildcats, it’s time to take a look at the best bets for this week 2 contest.

In our piece previewing the odds for Florida vs Utah, we went 2 for 2 on our predictions, saying the Gators would cover +2.5 and the game would go over 51.5.

This week, the Gators are -225 to win, favored by 5.5, and the over under is set at 52.5.

Let’s look at where the smart money is for this SEC matchup.

Florida football: Best bets for week 2

Since we wrote our piece previewing the lines for this game, the odds have shifted more into the Gators’ favor.

Regardless of how confident you are in UF to win, -225 isn’t an awesome price to take the Gators at. It isn’t a bad bet by any means, as Florida will likely make sure you get paid, but the money line would have been a much better bet a few days ago.

One bet I do like is the spread. The Gators are favored by 5.5 points, with a line of -114 to cover.

Florida to win by a touchdown is a very safe bet. Kentucky doesn’t have the personnel to stop the Gators’ run game, and their offense is depleted.

Expect UF to win this game comfortably, and cover the spread.

When it comes to the over/under, it really seems like this game could go either way. FanDuel would agree, as the line on both the over and under 52.5 is -110.

My gut is telling me to go under.

Both teams figure to be run heavy in this contest. UF has already established their dominant ground game, and Kentucky will likely look to Will Levis to take over with his legs for their offense riddles with suspensions and injuries.

With all of this running, the clock will keep moving. I’m also not too sure Kentucky will get to 20 points.

All of these factors tell me that the under is the way to go.

Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
