We’re just one day away from Florida football ladies and gentlemen.

The long-anticipated debut of Billy Napier’s Gators against the top ten Utah Utes is almost upon us.

There have been plenty of predictions about the winner and loser of this game, and we wanted to look at how the oddsmakers view the Gators and Utes matchup and where the smart money is.

Odds via FanDuel, lines subject to change.

For starters, Utah is the favorite in this Saturday night matchup. The Utes are -140 to win, compared to the Gators at +114. If you like Utah’s chances and aren’t too high on the Gators turning it around this season, -140 isn’t a bad price at all.

For us Gator fans who will be cheering for an upset, +114 shows that the oddsmakers believe that an upset isn’t too far out of reach. With all of the energy that will be packed into The Swamp, the unranked Gators really aren’t that far out of it.

Perhaps a little more interesting is the spread for this game. Utah is favored by 2.5 points, with a line of -122 to cover. On the other side, the Gators are +100 to cover +2.5.

Without trying to sound like a homer, which I absolutely am, +100 is fantastic value for the Gators to cover 2.5.

Even if you favor Utah to win, it’s hard to make the case that this game is a blowout. Granted, a last-second field goal could be enough for Utah to cover, but it’s never a bad idea to take the Gators covering as underdogs, especially at home.

Finally, for the. over/under. The line is set at 51.5, with the over at a price of -108, and the under at -112.

In my eyes, this could really go either way, which is made obvious by the lines being so close to each other. I would favor the over here, as tackling is always an issue in early season games and both teams feature strong offenses.

Keep up with Florida football here.
