Florida football: Keep eyes on Tayvion Robinson

If Rodriguez doesn’t play, wide receiver Tayvion Robinson will be the man Kentucky looks to for offensive firepower. Robinson is a transfer from Virginia Tech and he torched Miami (OH) last week for six catches and 136 yards.

As we chronicled in our preview of Kentucky’s offense, the Wildcats love to use pre-snap motion. Against Miami (OH), Kentucky had a man in motion on 24 offensive plays. On 20 of those plays Kentucky either ran the ball up the middle (and not effectively) or had the play designed to go to the side the man in motion started from. Only four times did the play go to the side that the man in motion was heading towards.

In particular, Kentucky would line up with three receivers, one running back, and one tight end. Robinson would have the extra receiver lined up with him and that receiver would go in motion to the opposite side. The Wildcats did this to drag a defender across the field to leave Robinson in a one-on-one situation.

Gator cornerbacks Jason Marshall, Avery Helm, Devin Moore, and Jalen Kimber among others will be tested against Robinson and it will be in Florida’s best interest to bracket their coverage of him with safeties Rashad Torrence or Trey Dean.
