Florida football: Signing day tracker/updates

The Florida football program heads into national signing day (part two) with a lot of expectations. Quite the opposite from last month when it was mostly uncertainty and even negativity from the fan-base. Billy Napier quickly turned things around and hauled in a few huge recruits.

247 Sports has Florida football currently ranked as the No. 26 overall class, a huge improvement of when they entered early signing day as the No. 76 overall class.

Heading into signing day the Gators have three big targets. Harold Perkins, Jacoby Mathews, and TreVonte’ Citizen are arguably the biggest fish in the sea for Florida.

Update: The only 4-star to sign with Florida football today was Trevor Etienne.

2/2 7:09 P.M. ET: Jacoby Mathews to Texas A&M. The Gators go 0 for 3 on their big fish today.

2/2 7:03 P.M. ET: Jacoby Mathews decision incoming.

2/2 4:30 P.M. ET:   Harold Perkins – 5-star No. 1 linebacker- has signed with the LSU.

2/2 4:25 P.M. ET: Bryce Capers has signed with the Florida Gators. Capers is a 3-star LB. He was previously committed to Florida.

2/2 4:00 P.M. ET: Harold Perkins decision coming around 4:30 PM ET.

2/2 3:17 P.M. ET: 3-star DL  Andrew Savaiinaea has signed with Florida. He was previously committed as well.

2/2 2:55 P.M. ET: 3-star TE target, Danny Lewis, is heading to Alabama.

2/2 2:50 P.M. ET: 3-star WR Caleb Douglas is heading to Florida.

2/2 2:01 P.M. ET: There still is a few giant decisions looming. 5-star Harold Perkins will make his decision at 4:30. And arguably the top safety Jacoby Mathews, will make his decision at 7 PM. The Gators are waiting on a few more decisions from 3-star players as well.

2/2 12:55 P.M. ET: The Gators have signed their QB. 3-star Max Brown from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Max committed to Florida in January.

2/2 12:51 P.M. ET: It’s looking like Florida will need to land Harold Perkins to consider this a great day.

2/2 12:26 P.M. ET:  4-star RB TreVonte’ Citizen has signed with the Miami Hurricanes. Did not see that one coming.

2/2 12:11 P.M. ET: 12:20 expected announcement.

2/2 12:00 P.M. ET: Getting ready for TreVonte’ Citizen announcement.

2/2 11:59 A.M. ET: Hayden Hansen is in. He will be a Gator as expected.

2/2 11:09 A.M. ET Trevor Etienne officially signed his letter about ten minutes ago. At least one 4-star RB from Louisiana is heading to the Swamp. Florida hopes to make it two with Citizen coming up in a bit.

2/2 10:48 A.M. ET: Still waiting on the signing of Etienne. 3-star TE- Hayden Hansen is expected to sign soon. He is already committed to Florida.

2/2 10:33 A.M. ET: 4-star Caden Story is heading to Clemson. Florida was a finalist.

2/2 10:27 A.M. ET: Jalen Farmer signing is in. Farmer is a 3-star OL and officially a Florida Gator

2/2 9:58 A.M. ET: Still waiting on Etienne and Farmer.

2/2 9:29 A.M. ET: Yesterday, Harold Perkins signing time was pushed back to 4:30 PM ET. Perkins is a 5-star #1 LB recruit. He will be deciding between Florida, LSU, Texas A&M. Personally, I think Texas A&M is out.

2/2 9:15 A.M. ET: Miguel Mitchell has sent in his letter of intent. Officially a Florida Gator.

2/2 9:14 A.M. ET: Jalen Farmer 3-star OT, Miguel Mitchell 3-star athlete, and Trevor Etienne 4-star Running back, are all expected to sign in the coming moments. All three players are committed to Florida football.

2/2 9:08 A.M. ET: Keep an eye on TreVonte’ Citizen. It looks like he is really trending toward Florida. Citizen is a 4-star running back out of Louisiana . He was expected to sign with LSU, but Florida football looking like they will steal him. He makes his decision at 12 PM ET.

2/2 9:00 A.M. ET: Jack Pyburn sent in his intent earlier this morning. He is a 3-star edge rusher

2/2 8:58 A.M. ET: Ready to roll here. Expecting the intent of some commits to be coming in at the 9 AM hour.

2/1 3:15 P.M. ET: Hi everyone. We’re going to be starting a little early, a day early actually. We have a player on our watch list who will be committing today at 3:30 PM ET.

It is 3-star Jack Pyburn. Pyburn is an edge rusher and wasn’t recruited by Florida football until very recently. Most are projecting him to sign with Florida though. His other choices are Miami and Auburn. I’m expecting Florida here, Jack has strong ties to the program.

2/1 3:34  P.M. ET: Jack Pyburn has committed to Florida football. He will be expected to officially sign tomorrow.

2/1 3:45 P.M. ET: Earlier today DJ Allen committed to TCU. He was deciding between Florida and TCU. Allen is a 4-star WR recruit, definitely disappointing. You never know until it’s signed though. See everyone tomorrow!

Jacoby Matthews’ top-three schools heading into signing day are projected to be LSU, Texas A&M, and Florida.

TreVonte’ Citizen – Running back – Signed with Miami

Florida is projected to be in the mix coming signing day. However, TreVonte’ Citizen still has a pretty big list of schools. We may know a bit more by Tuesday.

Caden Story – Defensive Lineman – Signed with Clemson

Caden Story has Florida football in his final choices for signing day. The schools in the running are Clemson, Auburn, and Florida.

DJ Allen – Wide Receiver – Signed with TCU

It looks like it is between TCU and Florida for this talented wideout.

Caleb Douglas – Wide Receiver – SIGNED!

Napier visited with Caleb Douglas a few days ago, the Gators are definitely in the mix for him. Schools to fend off are Baylor and LSU. Brian Kelly has been to see Douglas recently as well.

Arlis Boardingham – Athlete – No decision today

It feels like a one-team race for Arlis Boardingham. 247 recruiting has Boardingham joining the Gators next Wednesday. Also, as I’m typing this up, Arlis followed Hail Florida Hail on Twitter. Take any sign we can get.

Matthew McCoy – Offensive lineman – Signed with Miami

In-state recruit, 247 recruiting has him heading to Florida football as well.

Jack Pyburn – Edge- SIGNED!

Jack Pyburn is currently visiting Gainesville this weekend. He had posted on Twitter he was deciding between Miami and Auburn. This visit to Florida could change his mind.

Emar’rion Winston – Edge – Signed with Oregon

Two-team race for Emar’rion Winston, Florida, and Oregon. Looks as if he is leaning toward Oregon, Winston is from Oregon.

Danny Lewis – Tight End – Signed with Alabama

Danny Lewis is on his official visit to Florida this weekend. The other two schools he is really considering are Alabama and LSU. He would be smart to stay away from Alabama if he wants to play.

KD Hutchinson – Athlete – Signed with Western Kentucky

Another player on a late visit to the Swamp. Most predictions have him heading to Vanderbilt.
