Florida football prospect #1: Zachary Carter – DL

The first player we know to be attending the Senior Bowl for Florida football is defensive lineman Zachary Carter.  Carter is a 6’4″ 284 pound redshirt senior defensive lineman for the Florida Gators, who has only been improving more and more throughout his career.  Carter would start his first season purely at defensive end, but then switch to DL as he would move inside at times and play defensive tackle.

Carter currently has an amazing statline throughout his career with the Florida Gators, and has been an absolute menace for their defensive line unit.  His stats across all four years are the following:

  • 32 games played across 4 seasons
  • 102 total tackles (39 solo 63 assisted)
  • 26 tackles for loss & 17 sacks
  • 8 passes deflected, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 touchdown from a fumble recovery

Overall, Carter has had a phenomenal career at Florida, and we believe him to be a 3rd round pick as of right now.  However, with a strong performance at the Senior Bowl, he could raise his draft stock into early day 2, as his size and productivity make him a strong candidate to contribute for an NFL team.
