3. The defense is back

I am excited to watch the new-look Florida Gators offense this season, but I’m most excited about watching this defense get back on track. And that is what they will do in 2021.

The Gators defense in 2020 was so frustrating to watch. They couldn’t get off the fiend on 3rd down, and they lacked that nastiness the Gators defenses of the past always had.

Do not fear Gators fans; the defense should be back to their old ways this season.

The Gators have elite players at every level, which is a big reason they will succeed.

On the defensive line, they have true sophomore Gervon Dexter. The 6-6, 308-pound beast played in every game as a freshman, and he has top-five pick potential.

Then you have Zachary Carter on the defensive line and Brenton Cox Jr. coming off of the edge. Cox should have a great season for the Gators.

At linebacker, the Gators are lead by Ventrell Miller, but junior Mohamoud Diabate could take Florida’s defense from good to great.

They are loaded with talent at cornerback, headlined by future top 10 pick Kaiir Elam and the best freshman in the nation, Jason Marshall Jr.

Trey Dean will be the leader of the secondary at safety, and Gators fans should be feeling great about this entire group.

When we look back on the 2021 season, after the Gators win the SEC East for the second year in a row, we will talk about how the defense was a big reason why.
