When Florida football fans look back at the Florida Gators’ best teams, speed is one key component.

Head coach Dan Mullen has, literally and figuratively, quickly been building a program at Florida. It seems like the Gators are in on many big named recruits and continue to land studs throughout the process.

Two names that really stick out and show that Mullen and his Gators emphasize speed are wide receivers Isaiah Bond and C.J. Smith.

In May, Bond committed to the Gators, which was the first big get for the Gators receiver room. Next was Smith, who committed on Sunday, June 20th.

Florida will have to keep fighting off Alabama, as they are still trying to get Bond to flip his commitment to the Crimson Tide. However, luckily for the Gators, quarterback Nick Evers has been critical in Florida’s recruiting efforts.

Evers has already been winning for the Gators without even taking the field. The 4-star 2022 quarterback committed to the Gators early and has been vocal to any undecided recruits to join the Gators too.

Florida football fans shouldn’t worry.

I believe Bond will stay with the Gators because of this, and Florida is getting a great player.

Bond is 6-0, 175 pounds and oozes speed on film. The future Gators receiver ran a 10.48 100-meter dash in high school. Bond should fit nicely as a Kadarius Toney-type player for the Gators.

Smith and Bond may both be speed demons, but they play different roles, as Smith is 6-3, 180 pounds. Don’t let his size fool you; Smith ran his 100-meter in high school at 10.28.

Smith will fit nicely as an outside receiver for the Gators with tons of speed to take the top off of the defense.

The additions of both Bond and Smith show the Gators’ emphasis on getting speedy receivers, and that need for speed is a key part of the Gators 2022 recruiting class.
