Every recruiting class has one player that really stands out to fans, mainly because of their high ranking and 5-star ranking. However, for the Florida Gators and their 2022 recruiting class, their star is not a five-star prospect. Instead, it is four-star quarterback commit Nick Evers.

The 6-4, 190-pound quarterback committed to Florida on March 9, 2021. Florida fans should be excited for head coach Dan Mullen’s opportunity to work with Evers, as Mullen is one of the best head coaches in college football, but his work with quarterbacks may be the best.

Evers flashes on film, mainly with his arm talent. When he lets the ball rip, he truly lets it rip. The ball snaps out of his hand with great velocity, and he can make a ton of big-time throws because of it. In addition, he has a great deep ball and can routinely hit his receivers in stride for a big gain or a score.

Evers throws with great accuracy, so his strong arm matched with his accuracy at a young age is extremely promising, especially in Mullen’s offense at Florida. With the news that Mullen and Florida agreed to a contract extension through the 2026 college football season, Evers will surely be able to progress into an elite starter for the Gators under Mullen.

While it is fun to talk about the potential Evers’ possesses, the Florida commit is already a star for the Gators without even taking a snap.

How is Nick Evers a star for the Florida Gators already?

Fans should be excited about Evers’ potential with Mullen, but they should be fired up about what Evers is doing for the Gators off the field.

If a big-named recruit is undecided, nine times out of ten, Evers has tweeted at them or done something to try and make sure the Gators are well represented.

Evers is doing everything he can to try and get as many top recruits to commit to Florida with him and create something special with the 2022 recruiting class. I have never seen a commit recruit like Evers has been for the Gators.

It hasn’t just been social media either, as Zach Goodall of Sports Illustrated’s All Gators spoke to Evers about his recruitment of other top recruits on his visit to Gainesville. Evers said, via SI All Gators, “I was kind of talking all over the place. I’m always trying to, you know, rep Florida for everyone and just tell them, ‘This is the place to be.'”

This kid oozes superstar potential on and off of the field. So, while some schools will celebrate a five-star recruit as their top guy, Gators fans should celebrate landing Evers, who is already a star for the Gators.
