After former quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson took an NFL job, the Florida Gators have offered a laundry list of 2022 quarterbacks as the Gators practiced due diligence to find their next quarterback to develop at the University of Florida. That process came to an end today, as 2022 quarterback Nick Evers of Flower Mound High School has committed to the Florida Gators.

The 6’4, 190-pound quarterback has also fielded offers from Ole Miss, Auburn, TCU, Texas Tech, Boise State, and Penn State.

In his junior season, Evers posted a stat line of 25 total touchdowns, six interceptions, and 202-299 (68%) passing for 2,591 yards.

Once Garrick McGee took over for Johnson, the quarterback board seemed to shift, leading the Gators to set their sights on QB Tayven Jackson and Evers. The Texas prospect was offered by UF on February 3rd, just days after McGee took the promotion from an analyst position.

After speaking with Zach Goodall of Sports Illustrated’s AllGators, Evers explained how the Florida staff was making him a priority. “The main message I took away was how much they want me at the University of Florida”, Evers told AllGators on March 6th.

While Evers is a talented prospect, he will have to wait his turn behind current UF quarterbacks Emory Jones, Anthony Richardson, and Carlos Del Rio-Wilson once he arrives in Gainesville.

With a slew of 2022 QB’s committing to their respected schools, it has to feel good as a Florida fan to get a guy on board to help build the rest of the 2022 class. Joining Evers in the Florida 2022 class are defensive end Francois Nolton and wide receiver Syveion Ellis.

Evers is ranked as a three-star in the 247Sports Composite ranking, currently standing as the 20th best Pro-style quarterback in the 2022 class.
