Strong-Side Defensive End

The defensive end position will likely see a number of different faces in 2020. There are so many players that can fit the build, it’s difficult to pinpoint which one will make the most impact.

Zachary Carter will be asked to play a majority of the snaps at defensive end, but we can also expect to see Brenton Cox slide in from the buck position every now and then.

The duo rotating in and out of positions will allow Grantham to use a bit of diversity in his blitz schemes.

And although Cox will see some snaps here to mix things up, it’s likely that Carter’s stable backup will be sophomore, Khris Bogle, who tallied 17 tackles and 2.5 sacks during the 2019 season.

I also think it’s safe to say that Andrew Chatfield will see some, yet limited, playing time at the end position. He’ll be going into his third season with Florida football after redshirting his freshman year.

Truthfully, it’s not easy being behind a talented group like Brenton Cox, Zachary Carter, and Khris Bogle, but it looks like Chatfield will have to learn the hard way unless he finds a unique role somewhere else.

It’s evident that Grantham has a lot to work with at defensive end and he’ll certainly use this to his advantage on a game-to-game basis.

Projection

1- Zachary Taylor

2- Khris Bogle

3- Brenton Cox or Andrew Chatfield
