South Carolina Gamecocks
Oct. 3 | Ben Hill Griffin Stadium
Muschamp will once again (and perhaps for the last time) lead his South Carolina Gamecocks to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to take on his former team.
The Carolina coach happened to be out-classed many times last season, suffering losses to North Carolina, Appalachian State, and Tennessee.
However, thanks to an unlikely win over Georgia in Athens, Muschamp continued to drag his team across the finish line, conclusively keeping his head above water.
Can Muschamp hold onto his coaching job this year? I couldn’t tell you, but one thing is certain: the likelihood of the Gamecocks making it out of The Swamp alive is minuscule.
Offensively, Carolina is filling holes. After losing their versatile receiver in Bryan Edwards, the Gamecocks may struggle putting their quarterback, Ryan Hilinski, in a position to succeed.
Prediction
Much like the Georgia game from last season, Muschamp will rely on his talented group of tailbacks to wear down the Florida defense, hoping that Hilinski can make a couple of plays in between.
South Carolina will ultimately try and win the game in the fourth quarter.
It won’t be easy.
Grantham will heavily prepare his team for the run-heavy Gamecocks, loading the box to force Hilinski to beat the Florida defensive backs.
In the end, Carolina will struggle to gain yardage, punting often.
In return, coach Mullen will take advantage of the skill gap, carrying the Gators to a victory over their former head coach.
