Long gone Willie

Of course, following the dismal loss to Miami, the Seminoles decided enough was enough and fired head coach Willie Taggart.

He lasted a grand total of 21 games.

According to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, the university privately raised nearly $20 million to buy out Taggart’s contract. Ouch.

You haven’t seen that happen with Florida football.

That does bring up an interesting point: Who is responsible for that contract? Whoever it is should have been on the unemployment line along with Taggart.

I mean, you paid $3 million to get him from Oregon — where he wasn’t that great (7-5) — then you stipulate in his contract you owe him nearly 85% of his compensation if you fire him???

All of this for a coach with one 10-win season in 10 years?

Welcome to Tallahassee.
